Sepülcro opened for American Master in Floripa and went home without a press release
There are small scenes that survive because someone chooses to sustain them. Sepülcro is one of those.
In April 2024, at Haôma, in Florianópolis, Sepülcro (with umlaut, in the official spelling) opened for American band Master, the band of Paul Speckmann, an old school death metal legend. To open for Master in Brazil, someone has to understand death metal. Sepülcro understood, played, and went home. No press release. No cover story. Most of the scene didn't even hear about it.
The band formed in 2022. Three years on the road, and already with two rare medals: their own entry on Encyclopaedia Metallum, the largest metal encyclopedia in the world, kept by curators who don't let just anything in, and on Spirit of Metal, a European reference with strong francophone tradition. Before Master, they shared the stage with Ereboros and Voorish at Castelo Necrovoid Night. They play few dates a year. Each one is with people who get it.
The sound is old school death metal, and in 2026 that's a choice, not an inertia. A lot of "extreme metal" today is turning into production cosplay: pitch correction on the growl, blast beat with a fake trigger, mixing that erases the leather of the cymbal. Sepülcro chose the opposite. Tremolo riff cutting straight. Firm blast, no shortcut. Guttural vocals that carry whoever is speaking. Short, abrasive solos, no frills. It's a sound that demands work from the band. Exactly because no one is pushing to do it that way today.
The co-founders that appear in public records are Necrobraço and Lucas Medeiros, typical scene pseudonyms. Four guys, instruments to be confirmed. Whoever is in Sepülcro and is reading this: contato@ondabrmusic.com. We want to do a real interview, sit down, talk, tell the story properly.
The only thing that keeps the band outside the local circuit is the discography on streaming. There isn't one. Whoever didn't go to the show still doesn't have a way to really listen. And that, in 2026, is almost a political act: music made to exist live, in a bar, in a body, in a specific year, and that's it. Some listeners will hate that decision. Some listeners will get it and become fans.
The name means sepulcher. The spelling carries the umlaut. And the tradition that most of the scene doesn't have the courage to keep stays alive in four guys playing two, three times a year in Floripa, no press release, no playlist, with the Encyclopaedia Metallum's respect as their only public medal. It's the kind of thing that doesn't grow on an algorithm. You have to show up at the show. Whoever needs to, shows up.
